Out of our collective year of emptiness has grown a desire to hide. Used up by this lonely world our memories hang heavy in the air, echoing voices are stolen by the wind, an omen of a future shrouded in darkness; but Jae Ryan senses a new light glowing behind the shadows. On "Due To", the latest record under his Samuel Edmund moniker, Jae has channeled his inner currents of looming anxiety and radiant optimism into a sonic dreamworld that's rooted firmly between the two. Whether it's the melancholic melodies of "Rearview Blue", the nostalgic escapism of "Bunk Beds", or the sunburnt haze of "Awake & Dreaming", these soundscapes have a deep resonance with our collective experience of the now. Somewhere between dystopia and a dream there is hope, and "Due To" is a beacon to light the way.
